Although numerous drugs are associated with chemosensory disturbances, the exact nature and mechanisms of these disturbances remain poorly described. A better understanding of drug-induced taste disturbances and careful patient assessment may reduce the occurrence and improve treatment outcomes.

Abstract Background Cosmetic adverse reactions (CARs) are becoming widespread in China. However, a comprehensive analysis of data is lacking. Objective To analyse the clinical characteristics of patients with reported adverse reactions to cosmetics in Chongqing, China. Methods Cases with CARs reported to the Chongqing Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre System from 2017 to 2021 were analysed. Results A total of 23?245 cases were identified, of which 94.5% were women. Contact dermatitis (84.3%) was the most common diagnosis of CARs, followed by acne (3.1%). The most frequently reported clinical signs were erythema (70.1%), followed by papules (35.5%). The majority of CARs were reported to be due to ordinary cosmetics (87.9%), of which 81.0% were skin care products and 7.1% were makeup products. Cosmetics with special functions constituted 12.2%, of these, skin whitening (54.0%) and sunscreen (28.0%) products were most frequently reported. Conclusion Our results suggest that adverse reactions to cosmetics are of concern in China, and dermatologists should actively identify and diagnose CARs. In addition, we should establish a convenient and effective model for collecting, reporting, and evaluating CARs.

Atypical antipsychotic agents are associated with fewer extrapyramidal symptoms than conventional antipsychotic drugs. They may, however, cause a variety of other adverse effects, including hyperprolactinaemia, weight gain, hyperglycaemia and postural hypotension. Careful patient monitoring allows for early detection and treatment of adverse symptom.

Radiopharmaceuticals are radioactive compounds used in nuclear medicine, consisting of a radioactive moiety and a pharmaceutical part. Radiopharmaceuticals are used for diagnosis (predominantly) and therapy (to a lesser extent). Adverse drug reactions are undesirable, unexpected, often harmful drug responses that occur when the drug is administered in therapeutic doses. Adverse reactions are more minor and rare because radiopharmaceuticals contain small amounts of pharmaceuticals and are administered to the patient in small doses. The main cause of the rare adverse reactions to radiopharmaceuticals is not the radiation itself, but the pharmaceutical part. Examples of adverse reactions frequently encountered in radiopharmaceuticals include nausea, dyspnea, bronchospasm, decreased blood pressure, itching, flushing, hives, chills, cough, bradycardia, muscle cramps, dizziness, fever, infection, shock, and other allergic reactions. Tc-99m-iminodiacetic acid derivatives, Tc-99m-sulfur colloid, Tc-99m-albumin colloid, and Ga-67-gallium citrate compounds are frequently used as liver imaging agents. Adverse reactions seen in liver radiopharmaceuticals are generally nausea, vomiting, erythema, flushing, widespread rash, itching, urticaria, respiratory events, and fever. There are rare reported cases of death. Due to the widespread use of radiopharmaceuticals today, it has become important in adverse reactions. Reporting of adverse events is important, since alerting healthcare professionals to these problems, assessing the magnitude of the problems, improving diagnostic accuracy, determination of treatment methods of adverse reactions will help minimize negative effects. For this reason, it is of great importance to identify and appropriately report the adverse effects seen. It is very important for countries to have the necessary pharmacovigilance systems to report and evaluate these effects.

Drug-specific reactions to antiretrovirals range from mild rash to severe reactions. While symptomatic treatment is usually adequate for milder reactions, discontinuation of the offending drug is indicated for severe reactions. Lipoatrophy is mainly associated with thymidine analogues and is managed with antiretroviral substitution or fillers. Immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome secondary to highly active antiretroviral therapy often manifests as opportunistic infections with dermatological symptoms and is treated symptomatically.

Feline orbital aspergillosis is increasingly described in the published reports and may be an emerging disease. Orbital mycotic infections were diagnosed in three cats with exophthalmos, significant dorso-temporal globe deviation and pronounced resistance to retropulsion. Advanced imaging was performed in all three cases to evaluate the extent of disease as well as to obtain guided orbital biopsies in two cases. Surgical intervention in the form of a lateral orbitotomy was pursued in the first case with the other two cases treated with enucleation or medical management alone. The available published reports concerning sino-orbital aspergillosis are reviewed. Oral therapy with a novel triazole, voriconazole, was instituted in two cases. Although voriconazole was apparently effective against the fungal organisms, it is also resulted in adverse reactions.

Purpose: Underreporting is the major limitation of a voluntary adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting system. Many studies have assessed the effectiveness of different interventions designed to improve ADR reporting. The aim of this study was to systematically map interventions and strategies to improve ADR reporting among health care professionals. Methods: The six-stage methodological framework of Arksey and O'Malley was used to conduct this scoping review. Ovid MEDLINE, EMBASE, All EBM, and Web of Science were systematically searched from 1999 to February 2019, and the reference lists of the included papers were also searched for gray literature to identify any interventions and strategies that aimed to increase ADR reporting. Two reviewers screened the papers for eligibility based on the inclusion criteria and extracted their key data and analyzed them descriptively.
